Fun Fashion Idea for Breast Cancer Survivors (Or Anyone)
Fashion has been challenging for me ever since my unilateral mastectomy over a year ago. I did not have reconstruction, so I am flat on one side. I have a breast prosthetic that I got through my insurance company, and I wear that sometimes. I also have some lighter weight breast forms that were hand made by volunteers and I use those also. But even when I wear a breast form, sometimes I feel like I need a little something to camouflage my chest or my side profile. I discovered this little trick using a large rectangular scarf. It only requires one knot, and transforms a scarf into a cute vest. Vests and scarves are great fashion staples for any woman, especially one who has had a mastectomy.
Below is my very amateur production of a tutorial. For some reason, the video does not show up on the mobile version of my blog, so I apologize for that. I am new to this, and will have to learn how to work with videos if I plan to do more of them. I hope you find this useful. I'm excited about this new use for my rather large scarf collection. It is much more fun than what I was using my scarves for this time last year--as a covering for my chemo induced hair loss!
